The 6th edition of the acclaimed prestigious Ghana Movie Awards would be holding tonight at Accra International Conference Center, regardless of the negative criticisms that have accompanied its organisation down the lane.
The prestige and sincerity of the award has been questioned by some of the reputable acts in the Ghollywood industry. Not too long ago Juliet Ibrahim mocked the deficiencies of the organisers in the aspects of award categories, saying they don’t know how to rightly categorise the nominees. She also insinuated that it has become a family business.
Yvonne Okoro has added her support to the ongoing criticisms in a recent interview on Live FM, as she vows never to submit her movies for award considerations or by any means be a part of it.
However, amidst the criticisms, the organisers are undeterred and are planning big for the award. The 5th edition that held last year was held in poise and pageantry with the who is who of Nollywood and Ghollywood in attendance; amongst which were Joseph Benjamin, Juliet Ibrahim, Patience Ozokwor (Mama G), Bryan Okwara, jackie Appiah, Yvonne Nelson, Majid Michel and a host of others.
John Dumelo who has remained silent over the controversial issues surrounding the award confirmed his intending presence at the award tonight few minutes ago on his Instagram page.
