Transfer gossip is again splattered across the back pages of the English press this Friday, as the Mirror play up suggestions that John Terry and Branislav Ivanovic could be set to walk the plank at Chelsea.
Both defenders were axed for Chelsea’s midweek win over Maccabi Tel Aviv in the Champions League, and according to the red-top, neither player is assured of a recall for the game against Arsenal this
Looking at the bigger picture, the Mirror claim that Jose Mourinho could sell both Terry and Ivanovic in January.
Both players are in the final year of their current deals at Stamford Bridge, meaning they can talk to other clubs from the next transfer window. Moreover, Fenerbahce want to sign both players.
John Cross reports in the tabloid:
John Terry and Branislav Ivanovic are both out of contract at the end of the
season and fear they could be on their way out of Stamford Bridge. They are two of the most vocal figures in the Chelsea dressing room and other players believe the uncertainty is affecting the
two defenders’ form and confidence.
Turkish club Fenerbahce are interested in signing both men, and the duo will be able to talk to foreign clubs from January 1 as things stand.
The Mirror also tip Chelsea to attempt to sign Everton defender John Stones this winter again:
Chelsea have made it clear they still want to sign Everton star John Stones after having four bids rejected in the summer transfer window and are ready to go back with a FIFTH bid for the England defender in January.
Were Chelsea to lose to Arsenal on Saturday, Jose Mourinho’s men could fall to the bottom of the Premier League should other results go against them.
